Nobody would have thought this possible, but despite the late blossoming we are harvesting very, very ripe grapes. Autumn 2006 has produced a miracle.

This week, we will finish harvesting the red grapes, including Cabernet Franc. What is still left on the vines are parts of Riesling Heiligenstein and the great crus of Grüner Veltliner: Lamm, Käferberg, Loiserberg, Alte Reben…

Over all this activity we almost forgot our little Muskateller vineyard, in which the berries are shrivelling into an anticipated winter. With a little luck, we should be able to have Beerenauslese or Trockenbeerenauslese wines from there.

The first wines have finished fermentation and allow us to get a sneak preview on the vintage character. In December, the first Grüner Veltliner will be bottled.
