Main harvest 2004 terminated

The third week of November saw the termination of our harvest of healthy grapes (without noble rot) in all vineyards.

During the last weeks, harvest conditions were perfect. The remaining, yellowed leaves had been ripped off by the storm, and the freed grapes could be rid of remaining green berries more carefully than ever. The harvested grapes were put into small cases transported into the cellar as quickly as possible.

Now, only a few bunches of grapes with botrytis (noble rot) are left in the vineyard. They will be used for our nobly-sweet Auslese and Beerenauslese wines.

The grapes harvested last were without doubt the best. Every single berry has a unique, individual taste. Taken together, the fruits create something like a carpet of sound – a term taken form contemporary music, where clusters of similar but different notes create a unique quality of sound. The individuality of every single berry adds to the liveliness and the intense expression of the wine which is about to be created and we hope, that it will transport this individuality.

In 2004 we can hope for great wine!
