| The Red Wines - A Challenge |
Traditionally, the family “pampers” the red wines (a third of total
production). Willi Bründlmayer’s father grew Zweigelt, St. Laurent and
Blauer Burgunder (Pinot Noir) grapes “because my wife likes to drink
red wine in the evening”.
The best locations have proven to be the windprotected south-east
slopes, the best-known being the Langenloiser Dechant and Ried Ladner.
For Willi Bründlmayer “it’s a challenge to grow fine, wholesome red
wines with outstanding personality in our climatic borderland”.
A red wine cuvée has been dedicated to each of the three children (from his marriage to his Parisian wife Edwige):
Cuvée Vincent (Cabernet Franc/Cabernet Sauvignon)
Cuvée Cécile (Pinot Noir),
Cuvée Anselm (Zweigelt/St Laurent) |
