WINESDESSERT WINE › Grüner Veltliner Loiser Berg TBA 2000
Grüner Veltliner Loiser Berg TBA 2000

This wine derives from a vineyard on the “Loiser Berg” wherein one also finds the site “Berg Vogelsang”. The difference is that the Grüner Veltliner from “Loiser Berg” grows on a south to southeast facing slope, which is less exposed to the winds. The soil stems from primary rock geologically defined as zoisite-amphibolite, which is decomposing granite consisting of gneiss, mica-schist, and some clay and loess.

In 2000 we managed to virtually “pick out” a tiny amount of completely dried botrytised berries. Those shriveled grapes were being gently pressed for 36 hours non stop, fermented and matured for at least 18 months in 300 l Austrian oak casks

Alk.: 10,0%

Tasting notes:
Overwhelming, the opulence of exotic fruits, and spice boiled peaches, mango, dried apricots, vanilla and toasty aromas of toffee, nuts and, a hint of smoke and peppery spice, velvety and silky on the palate.

Rich texture, powerful with lots of extract and good acidity supporting the balanced structure, honey sweetness enhances a never ending game with fruty freshness and Veltliner Spice thus still showing varietal character, incredibly long finish.
