Gelber Muskateller Auslese 2006
In the Kamptal, Gelber Muskateller (White Muscat) has a long tradition as part of the traditional mixed plant ("Gemischter Satz"). It contributed lively fruit and attractive aroma. Therefore it is still used as a dessert grape.
On the special request of our cellar master Sepp Knorr we reintroduced Gelber Muskateller after a break of some decades. The small vineyards are on the sites "Steinmassel" and "Spiegel". Generally we aim at rather late harvested dry wines with stunning freshness, pure fruit and mineral backbone.
As the grape it is thin skinned and easily affected by botrytis dessert wines have been achieved in special years. As a single variety wine in this late harvest Auslese 2006 version we may show an absolute rarity in the Kamptal.
Alcohol: 12%
Tasting notes: Pure intensive fruit of elderberries, peaches and exotic flavours, savoury taste, full bodied, yet perfectly balanced, a touch of sweet and bitter that fits well with the fruity, flowery & spicy elements, good grip on the palate, very long finish.
Food pairing: If not drunk on its own this wine matches very well with cold starters and exotic dishes, curries woks or duck (Bejing style), very fresh cheeses and desserts with fresh fruit. |
