Vincent Cabernet Franc 2002
This wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Franc and 35 % Cabernet Sauvignon and 15 % Zweigelt. Both varieties are sourced from incomparable sites on Heiligenstein Mountain and trained in the Lyre system.
This vineyard was planted with special foresight for future generations. The Bründlmayer family’s oldest plantings on Heiligenstein have now reached an age of 80 years. Between the very long life expectancy of the vines and the predicted continual global warming, some areas of the Heiligenstein may be excluded as optimal growing sites for Riesling in the next decades. In forethought, other still later ripening grape varieties predestined for warmer climates and meager soils have been planted for experimentation. The Cuvée Vincent is a result of this exploration.
Alcohol: 12,5 % vol.
Tasting notes: Deep color; black currant cherry and peppery spice on the nose that follows through on the palate; vigorous but well-balanced and compact; elegant, long and complex finish with hints of chocolate leather, pepper, and tobacco.
Food pairing: All sorts of roast meat, steaks, wild goose, game with hearty sauces, breast of duck, as well as strongly flavored cheese. |
