Zweigelt Rosé 2007
Only a few people might know that Dr. Zweigelt, who managed to interbreed a new variety out of Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent in 1921, had vineyards in Langenlois. Actually the Bründlmayer family owns part of his vineyards. We make a varietal wine from Zweigelt but also blend it with other grape varieties where it contributes deep fruit and body.
One part of the Zweigelt Rosé comes from grapes harvested in a state of middle ripeness, gently pressed like white wine, the second part is from highest quality Zweigelt grapes where we just use the must flowing out of the press before the pressing even starts. After fermentaion in steel tank the wine undergoes partly or total malolactic fermentation (depending on the year.)
Our Zweigelt Rosé combines the primary fruity, fresh and easygoing Rosé styles of the cool climate areas with the powerful and mouthfilling Rosés of Southern Europe.
Alc: 12 % Vol
Tasting note: Light salmon pink, delicate hints at fruit (raspberry, woodstrawberry and sour cherry), based on spicy slightly mineral flavours, slightly buttery aromas, soft mouthfilling texture, elegant acidity and a medium body with again fruity tones, good length and lively finish.
Food pairing: This Zweigelt Rosé is not only a perfect aperitif and summer wine but also a versatile companion to food where all too up forward fruit too racy acidity, too much tannin or alcohol fail. |
