Première for Bründlmayer Brut Rosé!

Willi Bründlmayer has a new sparkler in his programme. After 15 vintages of Brut, the Kamptal producer widens his repertoire with the Bründlmayer Brut Rosé.

“We were able to profit from 15 vintages of our sparkling wine for our Bründlmayer Brut Rosé,” says Willi Bründlmayer. “My wife loves rosé Champagne and I wanted to make her a present.“

Between the first week of September and the second week of October 2005, Pinot Noir, Zweigelt and St Laurent grapes were harvested. At first the focus was on defining the fruit. The search was on for delicate, complex and refined aromas of blossoms, red berries and cherries, carried by mineral tones and fresh fruit and surrounded by softness, an animating wine with firm structure and good length.

The base wines were vinified separately and allowed to go through malolactic fermentation. Then we created the cuvée. The more powerful charges were used for our still rosé wine. Only the lightest and most animating were used for the Brut Rosé, together with a small amount of wine resulting from the saignée, the very first juice out of the press, of the ripest black grapes, pressed after a brief maceration. The base cuvée was vinified in the bottle in classic fashion by adding sugar and yeast after bottling. After prolonged elevation on the yeast the bottles were disgorged.

Tasting Note: Light salmon colour with reddish gold play of light, fine, persistent mousseux, delicate, fresh and very animating nose, fruit and spice with hints of fresh cherries and forest berries, a sophisticated note of citrus, caramel and yeast. Dry, fruit-driven yet creamy on the palate, finely woven with elegant acidity and mineral extract, very harmonious structure.

Stockists: select restaurants, Wein&Co, good retailers.
