| Tying the Shoots |
Pruning and tying of the shoots are designed to order them in space.
After the winter pruning, the shoots are growing in all directions. Now they are fastened to a wire frame at a height of 70cm. From there, they will grow upwards, towards the spring sun.
As soon as they have reached a height of 240cm, they are pruned once more. This creates a vertical wall of leaves beginning near the ground and rising to 150cm. The Lyra training system which we often employ for our vines works with two divided leaf walls, and therefore creates twice the work for those tying the shoots to the frame.
All our workers love this gentle work in the pleasant warmth of spring. |
